Movies you must watch with your brother. . .

When it comes to our culture, we think the perfect way to pamper our brother or to get pampered is on the day of Raksha Bandhan or Bhai Dooj, in case you are a girl. If you are a boy, the best opportunity to get hold of some time to spend with your brother is to watch a match or go out on the field to do so. But rarely we think of catching up a movie which showcases brotherly love, isn’t it?

  1. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
    Everyone remembers the debut film of Imran Khan as a love story between Jay and Aditi, but it also showed one of the endearing brother-sister ties between Aditi and her brother, who is imaginative and expresses himself through paintings. The high point of the movie is when Aditi understands what her brother has to say and the dialogue exchanged here is very realistic and thoughtful.

    The movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel “Three Mistakes of My Life” highlights the “bromance” between Ishaan, Govind and and Omi. But all of us who have watched the movie can’t forget the sibling love shared by Ishant with his sister, Vidya. The scenes between the duo are sure to make you remember the days when you used to share banters with your brother.
  3. My Brother Nikhil
    The movie came out at a time when India was slowly getting aware about AIDS and its victims. The protagonist of the movie, Nikhil, who happens to be a swimmer, suddenly gets affected with HIV. His family, except his elder sister Anamika shuts the door on him. The movie portrays how Anamika stands by her brother, gets him justice and reinstates his reputation in the society and it is this brother-sister love that makes the movie memorable.

    The sports drama film Iqbal is one of the most memorable movies in the history of Bollywood. Not only for the protagonist who is deaf and dumb combats his difficulties to become a cricketer, but also for his relationship with his sister Khadija. Khadija helps her train with sign languages and the scenes between the two are bound to make you emotional.
  5. Brothers(Hollywood)
    The 2009 movie, loosely inspired by Odyssey shows the story between two brothers, Sam and Tommy who shares a bitter relationship initially. But their bonding turns for the better when Sam returns from the war in Afghanistan with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Tommy helps him recover by morally supporting him and boosting his morale. The film is a good psychological take on sibling love.

    The “experimental epic drama” movie featuring Brad Pitt narrates the story of three young brothers as a middle aged man remembers his childhood and family. We see how three brothers try to get the attention of their father and slowly learn to love each other. The movie is replete with realistic scenes which depict the differences and similarity between the brothers with which you two easily relate.

    The movie is based on a story of the same name by the Marvel Comics. This is a nice watch if you and your brother is a die-hard fan of the Avengers series. The high point of Thor is the rivalry between Thor and his step-brother Loki which makes for an amusing watch.

    This doesn’t fall in the domain of “brother-sister movies”, but the warm bonding shared by the characters that are as thick as brothers, their way of consoling their friend whose fiancé dies of a sabotage MIG crush or the jokes and the camaraderie shared between them is definitely worth watching with your brother.
  9. Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara
    This movie reinstated bromance as a genre in Bollywood with the three characters Arjun, Kabir and Imran going for a pre-planned road trip. The way the characters bond, their self-realization and their way of looking at their life is a memorable watch.

    The movie is an emotional take on the rivalry between the brothers. They part ways in their childhood due to some unfortunate turns of events only to find each other again and discover their hidden love for each other.
