Children’s books are so simple, sweet and so much more. Children books are a combination of fascinating stories and simplicity towards lessons of lives. If read carefully, from a perspective of an adult, each story would have loads of wisdom hidden beneath a fascinating tale. Perhaps that is why we just fall in love with these stories and perhaps that is why they become an integral part of who we are. There are numerous quotes from books we all once read and adored which we can adopt in our adult life. Here are few of them:
- The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
“‘What day is it?’, asked Winnie the Pooh.
‘It’s today,’ squeaked Piglet.
‘My favourite day,’ said Pooh.”
—The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne
This quote from The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne tells a very simple thing that most of us forget- living in the present.
- Alice In Wonderland
“You’re mad, bonkers, completely off your head. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”
This statement by Alice implies that it is completely okay to be mad and crazy. It does not matter what others say or think because some how all the best people out there are best because of the passion, the craziness they have shown in their work.
- The Phantom Tollbooth
“You must never feel badly about making mistakes … as long as you take the trouble to learn from them. For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than you do by being right for the wrong reasons.”
—The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
We all have heard this somewhere or the other, in some form or the other that it is okay to make mistakes. What is not okay is not to learn from them and repeat them.
- Peter Pan
“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.”
– Peter Pan, J.M Barrie
In any situation if you doubt your ability or whether you can achieve something or not, you will never be able to do it. It is important to have self-confidence in all stages of life.
- Aesop, The Lion and The Mouse
“No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.”
It is important to stay kind and humble throughout your life. An act of kindness is never forgotten.
- Dr Seuss, Oh the Places You’ll Go
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.”
Basically, your destiny is in your hands and you are in charge of your own life. No external circumstances can affect it, once you have made your decision.
- P. L. Travers, Mary Poppins
“In every Job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun and the job’s a game.”
Enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy. Once you are in that zone you will find it equivalent to a game which you have to win.
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
This is a very deep thought and conveys that your choices reflect the person you truly are. Your abilities are secondary.
