Our habits either make us or break us. We often hear elderly people telling us that foster good habits, they would help us in life. They couldn’t be more right. If you carefully follow someone who is successful in life, you would notice that they have particular habits that actually helped them to accomplish their goals. Maybe that’s what sets them apart from the rest. Here are few habits of successful people that everyone should be aware of:
- THEY LISTEN
There is a misconception that if you have heard everything that someone has said you have listened to what they have said. The hearing is not listening. It is important that you listen to what people have to say to you. Not just to reply accordingly but to understand what they have to say.
- THEY ARE PROACTIVE
Being proactive is very crucial in order to be successful. They don’t wait for circumstances to shape them instead they focus on what is controllable. Sometimes we blame our circumstances for unfavorable things that happen. However, it is up to us whether we choose to be happy, sad or rectify it.
- THEY READ A LOT
Booklovers are often termed to be nerds. On the contrary, they read a lot. Few people have allotted few hours to daily reading. Bill Gates is known to read for atleast 1 hour before sleeping, Barack Obama is a known book lover while Albert Einstein is known to have some book or other in his hand always.
- THEY SET PRIORITIES
Priorities make you serious about what you want to achieve. You know where your focus should be. Steve Job normally started his day by asking himself if that day was his last day, would he do what he was about to do that day. That made him realize what his priority for the day should be.
- THEY ARE CERTAIN ABOUT WHAT THEY SPEAK
Have you ever heard them using words like “Um”, “Er”, “I Think” or ”Not Sure”? Probably not! Because they rarely use them. They are very clear and certain about what they want to speak and what they want to deliver.
- THEIR BODY LANGUAGE IS POSITIVE
Being in control of your body language is very crucial. Positive body language is very important in getting across what you want to say. It adds a positive impact. Your handshake, the way you use your hands, maintaining of eye-contact is something you should be in control of.
- THEY DON’T FEAR FAILURE
It is important to admit that failure is a part of life and that failure is the stepping stone to success. Many successful people wouldn’t be what they are if they had feared failure and given up. Bruce Lee once said “Don’t Fear Failure. In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail.”
- WAKE UP EARLY
Waking up early is a very difficult habit to cultivate. However, waking up early mentally gives you more time in a day. Early to bed, early to rise is what successful people live by. For them, nothing is more valuable than time.
