We have grown up listening to “Early to bed, Early to rise makes a man Healthy and Wise”, but never actually implemented it. However, the statement when implemented properly and regularly has lots of benefits. One thing that successful people have in common is they wake up early. The day you start waking up early, you will find you are a lot more productive, will feel like you can accomplish more and actually feel good about yourself. Here are a few ways how you can start waking up early even if you go to bed late:
- BE PREPARED FOR THE NEXT DAY
Prepare for the morning to come before going to bed. You can lay out your clothes so that you don’t have to go through that hassle in the morning, have raw-materials for the breakfast ready so you know what you will be having and you just have to prepare it and so on. These simple steps would make a huge difference and you will be having a great start to the morning.
- DON’T TAKE NAPS
You may feel difficulty in going through the day easily. You may feel sleepy and having a small nap but avoid it. Don’t take a nap. This way you will go to sleep little early than usual that night and hence would wake up early the next morning.
- HAVE HEAVY LUNCH
Have a heavy lunch rather than heavy evening meals or heavy dinner. This way you will get a good night’s sleep and also feel refreshed in the morning. In long term, this will give you a healthy lifestyle.
- AVOID THAT SNOOZE BUTTON
Snooze button would make you feel restless and it will make you press that button again and again. Get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes on. Make a mental note not to press that snooze button. If you feel you will press the snooze button, keep the alarm 10 minutes before the targeted wake-up time. This way the snooze button too won’t do much harm.
- REMEMBER THE BENEFITS
You may feel waking up early is a big hassle and you won’t be able to do it. However, when you doubt yourself, remember why you want to do it and remember the benefits. Remind yourself and you will get all the positivity you would need.
- KEEP THE CURTAINS HALF-OPEN
Make a habit of sleeping with curtains half-open or fully-open. This way you will wake up when the morning lights enter the room. You will wake up naturally. Also, waking up this way is a much better than waking up from alarm clocks.
- PUT YOUR ALARM CLOCK AWAY FROM BED
Try this in the initial days to wake up easily. Don’t put the alarm clock just beside your bedside; rather put it away from the bed. This way you will have to wake up and walk all the way to the alarm clock to shut it off. Just don’t go back to bed again. Rather feel excited that you have managed to wake up early and start the day in a positive manner.
