Amidst all the “hits” and “flops”, 2016 has been an exceptional year for Bollywood. A lot of movies have left an irrevocable mark on the box-office this year. Here’s our list of some of the highest-grossing Indian movies of this year with respect to their net lifetime collection (not including the overseas profit).

We can’t start our list without including the most profitable movie of the year. Inspired by a real-life story, the movie needs no introduction. The Aamir Khan starring movie even over-passed PK’s lifetime earnings with a net collection of 350 crores. And yes! This happened in the middle of the demonetization fiasco. - Sultan
SourceWith earnings of more than 300 crores, Sultan became the second-highest grossing movie of the year. Needless to say, 2016 has been a year of on-screen wrestlers. - M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story
