As much as I love movies like The Dark Knight or Man of Steel, I have to admit that not every superhero movie was able to give me chills. Some were just highly disappointing and left me baffled at the end. Here are the ten worst superhero movies of the recent time that you shouldn’t be watching.
- The Green Hornet (2011)
There was just something off about this green ninja that failed to impress its audience. The movie was directed by Michel Gondry (the man behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) which made people like me have high hopes for the movie. Nevertheless, the contrasting script and fast-paced events didn’t provide any logic in the movie.
- Catwoman (2004)
SourceI love Halley Berry, but her performance in Catwoman was one of her career-lows. The writers failed to connect the movie with the original comic script and came up with an extremely confusing storyline that made no sense at all.
- Suicide Squad (2016)
SourceLet’s just say there was nothing “super” about this movie. It was the third installment of the newly created DC universe where a team of anti-heroes (with charismatic charms) created a lot of havoc on the screen. And that was it!
- Punisher: War Zone (2008)
SourcePersonally, Punisher is one of my favorite Marvel characters, which was largely misrepresented in the movie. Just like me, it left a lot of fans unhappy and complaining about the lack of originality in the script.
- Daredevil (2003)
SourceDaredevil will always be one of the worst superhero movies of all time. The movie starred actors like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, but failed to create a buzz. I would rather be watching the Netflix origin series for some authentic Daredevil action.
- Elektra (2005)
SourceIt was a spin-off to 2003’s Daredevil debacle that was bound to be doomed from the start. Garner’s performance was not believable and didn’t seem to impress the mass. Fans were given some solace in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil that did a remarkable job with Elektra’s story arc.
- Hulk (2003)
SourceThe movie was all over the place and had too much CGI that made it look like one of those hurriedly-done cartoon shows. Just stay away from this Green superhero, guys.
- The Green Lantern (2011)SourceMaybe there is just something wrong with green superheroes, since even Ryan Reynolds’s charm was not enough to save this one. The movie had a one-dimensional approach and was called as a “comic movie hell” by critics.
- Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)
SourceThe newest entry in the Ghost Rider series was so bad that it ended up claiming a Razzie Award nomination for the worst rip-off. Maybe, 2011 was a terrible year for superhero movies.
- Superman Returns (2006)
SourceAfter watching this one, I just wanted the last 90-minutes of my life back. It was a done and dusted phenomenon of superman getting his girl while overcoming the kryptonite. Like seriously, how many times we need to see that story over and over again!
Grace yourself and stay away from these movies. They are just not worthy of your time!
